The event is back again this year by popular demand according to event organizers who describe it as one of the most beautiful Christmas events around.

The annual Poplar Hall Christmas Parade of Horses and Market is sponsored by the town of Chesapeake City and its chamber of commerce. Although the Victorian town is widely known for its bridge, seafood and scenic views of boats traveling along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, the town's equestrian history will be on display at what organizers are calling a Equestrian Christmas Wonderland on Sat. Dec. 14. (Rain date of Sun. Dec. 15, 2024

Equestrian legends, Boyd and Silva Martin will be the Honorary Parade Marshals for the event and will ride in a carriage in the finale. Boyd is an Olympic Equestrian from the sport of eventing based in Cochranville, PA. He’s been to four Olympic Games including Paris this summer where he finished 10th individually. He has two team golds and one individual gold from the Pam American Games and has won two five-stars including the inaugural Maryland 5-Star. He is currently ranked 6th in the world.

Silva, a German-born dressage rider, is a successful competitor, trainer, and coach for both dressage and event riders. Silva has competed internationally around the world and was a member of the gold medal team at Nations Cup In 2014 aboard her homebred mare, Rosa Cha W.

Event activities include:

9:00 am to 9:45 a.m. Horse Meet and Greet

Come say hello to the Parade Riders and their Horses at the Chesapeake City Elementary school as they prepare for the parade.

10:00 AM Horse Parade begins, with the singing the National Anthem with music on the bagpipe. The parade will include riding teams from: Dressage, Harness, Eventing, Fox Hunting, Carriage Driving, Draft/Work, Pony Clubs and more. Boyd & Silva Martin to end the parade in a carriage with our own European Father Christmas.

The team at Poplar Hall brings their own version of the Central European popular legend to spend the holiday with everyone!...He'll also be interacting with parade-goers at the market!

BOHEMIA MANOR REUNION!

If you were a student, teacher or worked for the Chesapeake City High School, come back to CC and celebrate the holiday at the event.

CHRISTMAS MARKET BEGINS AT 11:00 AM

The Poplar Hall team will also be transforming Pell Gardens into a unique all handmade, old world style Christmas that differs from anything in the area. Purchase ‘one of a kind’ handcrafted gifts or handcrafted eats from 30+ different artisans for your loved ones, while speaking directly to the one that actually made the piece.

Meet a REAL Father Christmas!

He'll be on hand to greet eventgoers and tell his stories of Christmas from times past to all the little ones and families.

Get a Selfie and Hang Out with KRAMPUS!

The European prankster will chat and interact with anyone who dares....maybe you can help him realize what a true Christmas is all about!

Meet Boyd & Silva Martin in town during the Market.

Two of the most prominent equestrians in the world today, will be available to meet and sign autographs etc...

CHRISTMAS CONCERT will be performed on the Pell Gardens amphitheater.

The Bohemia High School chorus & band will be caroling through town, as will the school band performing in the streets!

Purchase the Official Parade of Horses print at Town Hall by Shawn Faust - one of nations most renowned equine artists. Enjoy wonderful festive fare from our local Chesapeake restaurants and local brew, wine and spirits too sip while you shop.
